Wow, I rarely post here anymore, between Instagram and the podcast. Yesterday, however, was a huge day for me. I've never had the #1 pattern on Ravelry! And yet there it was. Rainbow Warrior, a top down shawl and its accompanying background:
I called this “Rainbow Warrior” because my LGBT friends and colleagues have been on my mind since the tragedy in Orlando. Despite being wonderful people they often live in fear, even before this tragedy. Symbols of kindness are badly needed in all of our communities right now. This shawl is a quiet reminder that hate doesn’t have to win, and that tolerance is grace. When you wear it I hope you remember to be gentle on yourself as well as your fellow humans or gift it to someone who could use a little extra love.
Rainbow Warrior is a very vibrant shawl that perhaps is even prettier on its wrong side than its right side, making it completely reversible. It is constructed from the top down and only one yarn is used at a time. You also carry your yarn up the side (all of you weaving-in complainers, I’m talking to you!) and the end has elegant picot triangles.
