Margaret Owen, aka Permanent Magenta, did an oil painting of a pink lantern based on the one in my hallway. I get to borrow it for a bit just for fun - lucky me. It's available here.
I hung the painting in the pink knitting room, lest I overwhelm anyone with, er, pink. Hey Dubs, anyone recognize the black and white pic on the bottom? It's Croke Park taken during a very important match that I will not mention lest those from the West of Ireland send me vicious I hate pink mail. Coincidentally, my faither and brother-in-law were sitting there, in the old Hill 16 at the time this was taken! I guess occasionally I should share some Husband type things that are present in Casapinka. I don't want to ruin my schtick, though. Ladies gotta stick together, eh?
This was a work in progress in Margaret's studio that I just loved as was the one below. I wish I could accurately and movingly describe how inspired I feel when I step into Margaret's painting world. We talk and talk and the colors hang around and between us and it informs my knitting and other artistic endeavors. Are you lucky enough to have friends like that, who inspire you and make you feel like a real optimist? I have a few and boy am I lucky.
I never tire of hanging out in her bright basement space, where lots of sunlight floods in (in comparison to my dark and cold basement!) and there always seems to be espresso at the ready. Hope you enjoyed this Permanent Magenta treat this morning. I think cold January is the perfect time to visit her artwork which is so bright and inspiring to me. Tomorrow, I am surprising Bubbles with a trip to NYC where I can do a recon of Purl Soho's needlepoint yarns and then go - well, she's 10, I'm 24 - please email me with some good suggestions! We're staying in Chelsea...I think she's going to faint!
