I always feel like such a chump by not sharing ongoing desgins with you so I'm going to ease up a bit on that. They look so bright and happy sitting by the window in my bedroom/bathroom/kitchen/playroom/staircase/trash can. You know how knitters are, ahem. This one is nearing finished. BUT MY REAL NEWS IS NOT THIS SLEEVE! I presented a couple of designs to my RISD class the other night and Lion Brand is buying at least one of them!
I need to balance what I sell on my own with what I sell to another company but it feels good to work with a company like Lion Brand, who gives a lot to charity, tries to arm the masses who don't have local yarn stores with affordable yarn, and has a dynamite design team (Adina Klein is Creative Director.) I was so thrilled to meet Margery Winter the other night. I got some real Project Runway type critiqueing which is good for me, and got to pick her brain for a couple of hours. What a week!
To make matters even better there was no fighting in the backseat on the way to school. I suddenly realized Junior had been quiet for ages. "What's he doing?" I asked his sister, figuring he was disemmbling the reading light or removing stuffing from the back of my seat with a fork. "Bratticus Finch is READING." she informed me. Bratticus Finch. And so another nickname is born. It's going to be very difficult to call him by his actual name now, I just know it.
