It's always hard to keep designs to myself so I thought I'd share an oversized, cozy wool sweater that I'm knitting. Of course, it has a few bright colors in it, lest you be swallowed up in a pale gray haze. I love how it's coming along!
It's also been a while since I've posted any inspiration journal pages. In light of my first class in the Hand Knitting Design course at the Rhode Island School of Design, I thought I'd start posting them more regularly. It's not like I don't have tomes and tomes! The class was mesmerizing, like coming home. The women there all spoke Knit Knit, Rhonda Fargnoli, our fantastic instructor took us over to the library and we had a non-traditional class, learning how to submit designs to publications and how to get our own style of drawing underway. I can't believe we relocated to a place that has this course (Rhode Island.) I woke up this morning pinching myself!
Finally, as food for thought for the day, I'd like to end with a conversation I had with Bubbles the other day, involving Nyan Cat. If you don't know, Nyan cat is a cartoon cat who is enveloped in cherry pop tarts and flies through space with rainbows coming out of her nether regions.
Bubbles: "Mommy, you should design a Nyan Cat sweater for your design class."
Pink: I can't it's copyrighted. Nyan anything is probably not up for grabs.
Bubbles: (Happily) "Oh no, mommy. (like she's talking to the least learned knitter in the Nyan Universe.) "Poptarts are copyrighted but not butt rainbows. I'm fairly certain there is no registered trademark on butt rainbows" she nods with conviction. She then leans back, smiling like she hit the parent lotto because her mom is taking a class where the discussion of butt rainbows has even entered the picture.
