I hadn't planned on having a deck up and running today but something happened and we washed all the furniture with soapy water. We also scrubbed the deck and hosed it down, then brought out the pink plastic chairs from last year. I put out my elephant table and threw down some scrap fabric on a battered table and voila - an outdoor room! I found another table that has been usurped by the amazing coffee table that you haven't yet seen and put it on the other side of the sofa. You can see that someone didn't even wait until the deck was dry to grab a good book and escape from Junior (who incidentally cracked the lens on my camera by falling UP the stairs while, it turns out, trying to take a photo of his penis.)
I bought a ton of this raspberry colored cotton fabric at our local bargain fabric outlet for $1.99 per yard thinking I could cover those dirty looking cushions. Sigh, add it to the list of stuff to make! But while Mark is working on the foyer (thank goodness Husband is on call!) it frees me up to think up more projects!
You can see Japan (as you may remember Junior calls our porch with the shoji like lattices) from the opposite side here. Later tonight we're going to hang 200 fairy lights to make it sparkle! I'm also waiting for a couple of outdoor rugs but I like to show a work in progress. I also hope to put a table out there this summer on the other end. Husband hates how Americans eat outside but really, with such a nice space, it's hard not to!
