I am enamoured of Rob Ryan's artforms. The paper cutouts that are illustrated all over the world in different media are so delicately well stated that I always catch my breath when I see one. My inspiration journal has them sprinkled throughout and I'm not sure why I don't have one of his prints hanging in my home, but I'll have to do something about that, presently. A simple solution would be to frame this tea towel: I think it's a lovely sentiment, and in periwinkle to boot. I love periwinkle!
If you can't afford this dress but are coveting it like I am, perhaps a few tea towels sewn together in a coy and flattering manner could make a dress. Photograph by Lachlan Bailey.
He has also designed a camera which is available at Etsy and Urban Outfitters. This is the prettiest camera I've ever seen, which I guess is akin to having a pretty leg cast or a hot proctologist - why beautify something that just needs to get the job done? Wrong. I know that you who visit me here at Casapinka appreciate the worth of beautifying utilitarian goods, don't you? I mean, for something that's supposed to be white or stainless steel, I get an inordinate amount of pleasure from walking into the kitchen each morning and grabbing milk from my twenty year old icebox.
